The School of Education grew out of the Higher Engineering Education Leaders Training Center established by the Ministry of Education in 1985. Over the past 30 years, closely relying on Tianjin University’s comprehensive advantages and deeply based on national and regional education development strategies, the School of Education has consistently insisted on innovative development, characteristic development, and coordinated development and has already realized characteristic development in fields such as emerging engineering education, vocational and technical education, postgraduate education, and learning science.

　　On the talent training systems, adhering to Tianjin University’s talent cultivation ideas of “Patriotism, Global Perspectives, Innovative Spirit, Practical Ability” and the motto of our school “Educate the talents from all over the world and cultivate their deep love for their family and country”, the School of Education emphasizes academic integrity throughout students’ whole development processes and cultivates students’ core socialist values according to the fundamental mission of fostering virtue. In 2019, undergraduate education in our school was approved as the national first-class undergraduate professional construction point. In 2018, the School of Education was authorized to confer doctoral degrees in education (including four subdivisions: higher education or engineering education, vocational education, postgraduate education, and learning science). In 2015, the first master’s degree in postgraduate education was established in China. In 2013, it began to recruit undergraduates and established an “undergraduates-postgraduates-doctoral students” three-level talent training system. In the past five years, it has trained almost 100 doctoral students and nearly 300 postgraduates, and the quality of talent training has gained a good reputation in the field of education in China.

　　The School of Education has the National Center for Innovation of Emerging Engineering Education, the first Social Science Laboratory in Tianjin, the Education and Science Research Center of Tianjin University (the key Humanities and Social Science Research Base in Tianjin), the Institute for Educational Research of Emerging Engineering Education, the Institute for Educational Research of Higher Education, the Institute for Educational Research of Vocational Education, the Institute for Educational Research of Modern Educational Technology, the Postgraduate Education Research Center, Tianjin University International Exchange Center of STEM Education, etc. The School of Education is the key National Vocational and Technical Education Teachers Training Base, the National Higher Vocational Education Teachers Training Base (in charge of the Ministry of Education), the key construction unit of National Model Vocational and Technical College (in charge of the Ministry of Education), Higher Engineering Education and Administration Leaders Training Center (in charge of the Ministry of Education), the location of national vocational master's degree expert groups and the secretaries groups, the key unit of School-enterprise Cooperation Committee, etc. Our school has a wide social influence on higher engineering education, postgraduate education, vocational education, and other fields.
